Do you want Hotel Chic in your Home

Whether its a beach side resort in the sunny Algarve or a city break in Manchester, good hotels go out of their way to make us feel at home when staying in their hotel. The décor and atmosphere commercial interior designers set out to create masterful master bedrooms and chic seating areas so why not try to recreate that same look at home.

Masterful bedrooms

The key to creating a serine master bedroom is for everything to have a place and be in its place. Interior designers use zoning to define areas by what they are intended for to get the most out of the room space. Afterall if you are a parent then your master bedroom is your sanctuary! It should be a serine space that multi tasks as a place to get the much needed 8 hours sleep, couple time, a reading space and the Sunday morning family time but that doesn’t mean it can’t have a little bit of that Hotel chic.

Ensure you have adequate hanging and drawer space for all your clothes. If space is at a premium then look at splitting your clothes by season and finding less accesible spaces to store them when out of season such as a loft space, or in underbed drawers.

Think about function and form when coosing furniture pieces. If your space is on the small side then look at items of furnitre that make the most of the space whilst if possible being on legs so the floor is visible giving you more visual floor space.

Guest rooms for more than sleepovers

If you have a glorified junk hole for a spare room, then just think about all the uses you could use it for – standard spare room for guests, Hobby/craft room, Home office or kids chill out room - Afterall space is at a premium! Even if you have guests visiting regularly your room can be multi-functional, just esure that all the extra stuff has a place to live – Drawers under the bed, storage boxes on top of the wardrobe etc can house the Christmas decorations, camping gear etc – why not put hooks on the back of the door and hang your Ironing Board!!

You can get that hotel look in your bathroom easier than you think. Hotels often use simple lines with large tiles as they are easier to clean. Think about all your storage needs and cater for them in your overall design – build in cupboards where you can to create lots of storage for towels, toiletries and loo rolls.

One of the key things to creating the look is sleek lines, but don’t forget you live there – no one can live in a show home!!
