January Blues?

So the festive season is over and all the decorations are now down… I don’t know about you, but I always feel the house looks so bare and usually take the opportunity to have a good clean round and reorganise the furniture.

Making more space

The festive period can often stretch our homes to almost breaking point with the number of visitors and guests. Whilst we make the most of what we have at the time, the January sales can often temp us to splash out on a new dining suite or living room furniture, so we don’t have to go through that again next year.

Top Tip – If buying in the sales know your stuff. Shop around online before making the journey to the store and if nothing else measure your space and take a tape measure with you to measure that January sale bargain before you buy. There is nothing worse than getting your bargain home only to find it wont fit and you actually have less space than you started with.

Plan of attack

As with any project its best to start with a plan. So, you have had unexpected guests to stay over Christmas and were horrified by the state of your spare room so are now planning a revamp… Plan out what is really needed. Often overnight guests don’t need a full triple wardrobe a dressing table to make them feel comfortable. Plan out your room and decide what furniture would work best for you 365 days of the year not just on the odd occasion you have a guest. Would your spare room be better as a multi-functional room? Study / Guest room or Playroom / Guest room or even Craft Room / Guest room? What ever your chosen combination, make the most of the furniture needed.
