easter eggsAre you feeling Egg-cited?

Chocolate eggs have been in the shops since boxing day and the count down is definitely now on till Easter… Everything has gone chick, bunny and egg mad!!

Now hot cross buns seem to have gone a little wayward with new exotic favours being on trend – chocolate, chocolate orange, chocolate and salted caramel just to name a few. Whilst they all taste nice (Not that I would try them all lol), there is nothing like a traditional hot cross bun for me.

Easter isn’t all about the eggs and hot cross buns though, it’s a time for family gatherings and that can sometimes be stressful due to lack of space. So what can you do to make things go more smoothly?

Make the most of the space that you have.

By clearing away the clutter and getting rid of all the things that you don’t actually need you can see what space you do have. When tidying up what you do need, look out for clever storage ideas to help you declutter your home.

The Spare room is often that room that is neglected. If you don’t have the time or inclination for a full re-decorating job, then why not treat it to a deep clean, some fresh new bedding and something that will give it a lovely smell such as fresh flowers or wax melts. Don’t forget your guests may need hanging space so even if you don’t have space for a wardrobe, put a hanging hook on the back of the door and find out some extra coat hangers so they can hang on the back of the door. If you are not lucky enough to have a dedicated spare room why not use a blanket box to store an airbed, bed linen, pillows and duvet when not in use. Pay special attention to the bathroom – clean and fresh makes it more inviting for guests but think practical and add in a couple of extra loo rolls.

The preparation will pay off so you have more time to relax with guests. Remember a selection of hot cross buns and easter cakes can be handy for those unexpected pop in guests.
