PlantsPlants don't just look pretty

Purify the air and help us feel calmer, plants are more than just a decorative accessory.

Bang on trend

Plants are in – literally in every design scheme everywhere. Look in any home living magazine or in your local homeware department and you will see green. Bigger the better is the order of the day with large scale greenery featuring on patterned fabrics, wallpaper and even furniture.

Real if you can

Obviously ideally real plants are best as accessories in your home as they do purify the air and help us feel calmer, however you do have to consider the commitment and be able to provide sunlight and regular watering. If you don’t have the time or inclination then choose low maintenance plants such as cacti or air plants, look at options like a terrarium that creates a sheltered, damp environment so is more forgiving around watering.

If you're short on space, go vertical. Even the smallest home has room for a plant or two but sometimes you have to think in all directions – why not try some macramé and create a hanging planter.

Go with your interior scheme

Plants need to look like they belong. Don’t pick a miniature rose to adorn your industrial themed dining room or a cactus for your floral print boudoir. Your chosen plants should be a natural accessory to your design scheme not a compromise on your room's look. Don’t forget you will need some matching plant accessories such as a mini watering can or water spritzer.
